Student Manual | In this experiment, we use pressure sensors to see how blood flows in an artery that has been obstructed by an external pressure. This technique is at the basis of the oscillometric method of blood pressure measurement. Students can see arterial vibrations through changes in pressure. The experiment is a huge learning opportunity in physiology, data processing, measurement systems and the concept of pulsatile pressure. The cardiovascular system, after all, is a rich mechanical system. |
